We stopped for a quick breakfast on our way home to Germany which turned out to include a huge Full English Breakfast at the best value for money we have come across on our entire journey through Somerset and the Exmoor NP. The staff was exceptionally friendly and the place is very dog friendly. Another plus are the vegan and gluten free options in food and hot drinks. 10/10 would recommend!

Very lovely little cafe. Service was great. Very friendly. Coffee was delicious. We had a cappuccino and an Americano which my partner said was nice and strong and not watery like some places can be. Food was very scrummy-we had the small English breakfast swapping out the black pudding for an extra hash brown. Such a cute village and so nice to sit outside in the sunshine just watching the world go by
Fantastic fry up here, perfectly cooked, surprising could not fault. Bacon nice and crispy, poached egg runny but not too runny. Staff very friendly towards our dog and baby very reasonable.

Exceptionally friendly place for my coffee and cake stop during today’s bike ride. In spite of being busy with an order of dozen amazing-looking full English breakfasts for the table next to me, the waitress was super-nice and the service was speedy. The yoghurt-iced apple and blackberry flapjack is excellent.
Had some time off so looked for a place to have a nice lunch. The Spelt restaurant, vegan and vegetarian place was closed Wednesday but I’m pleased to say I had a really really good meal at The Toucan down the road. I arrived at 12, so breakfast menu not available. My choice from the lunch menu in the window was the hot pot smoked haddock with choice of vegetables or salad and wow, it was delicious. Still bubbling hot from the Aga on a hot plate. Husband and wife team so service is a little slow, but you’re in a country village, life is slower, just enjoy the day. Well established eatery so it was also busy with locals and visitors. The menu has a good choice for all appetites. I had the sticky toffee pudding which was also divine.
What a wonderful place. Excellent staff, superb food & an all-round enjoyable lunch. Dogs welcome & not ignored. Check out the interesting clocks.
